Abstract

The subject of this research is to investigate the possibilities for reducing the level of noise in the travel area of railway vehicles which is produced from the most dominant source – the swivel base in contact point with rail. Produced noise is presented inside of the passenger compartment and with this research it is made a step toward to a possible practical application for the reducing lavel of noise to the permissible limit - 55 to 68 dB. It is known that with longer exposure to noise above 90 dB, passengers are experiencing a temporary psychophysiological effects, while the supporting board staff, with longterm residence in the travel area, having permanent pathophysiological damage caused by noise. By apsorbing some quantities of produced noise caused by vibration in the wheel-rail contact, as well as of the all circuit elements of the swivel base, with these research we have tried to give a small scientific contribution for reducing noise level limits in the boundaries of national and international regulations, and to provide a good maintenance of tracks, as well as working stand.
